has been growing in my garden longer than anything else.

Pineapple Guava (Feijoa sellowiana),

Rose of Sharon (Hibiscus syriacus),

Pink Evening Primrose (Oenothera speciosa),

Nerium oleander,

Acanthus mollis,

and Leonotis leonurus also known as, Lion's paws, Lion's Ears, or Lion's Tails, take your pick.

Earth Day

Gathered from the garden for an Earth Day lunch: arugula and cress,

nasturtium flowers,

carrots (Nantes variety),

Swiss Chard and turnip greens for braising.

Greens chopped to mix with

lemon zest and juice and preserved lemon,

all placed in a pot with olive oil to cook for 

lunch.

Hippeastrum

Hippeastrum, commonly known as amaryllis, grow in pots in my garden.  I once planted the bulbs directly in the soil where they quit blooming.   Once repotted they bloom reliably every April.

When the buds emerge, I bring them in the house.
