Garden Visit

The front garden is terraced,

and entered on stairs.

Giant Staghorn Ferns are mounted on trees.

Found and rescued elements are everywhere, the gate, pots and even the ferns.

In the back is an Asian themed garden with a fountain,

stepping stones and a lantern,

a red bridge,

ferns and shade plants

with a tiny pagoda.

The Monarch

I have been wanting to pull out the Zinnias in my garden, it is the end of their season and they are looking a little bedraggled.

But then the Monarch arrived

and spent a long time

going from flower

to flower. Perhaps to get nourishment before migration.

I like to think it is one that lived on the Milkweed in my front yard.

October in my Garden

The year is winding down in my garden, but some flowers are still blooming and garden creatures are still making their homes.  This is a Reed-Stem-Epidendron,

a few autumn roses

are still flowering,

the Zinnias,

another rose,

Serbian Bellflower,

a monarch caterpillar,

the first Bird of Paradise flower of the season,

Japanese Anemone,

the Jeweled Araneus spider in its large web,

and hunting in the Zinnias, a Mediterranean Mantis.
