Freesias

Freesias, native to eastern South Africa,

grow very well in my garden.

They bloom over a period of several months.

There are double and single form and many colors.

The white Freesias bloom later and

they are fragrant like all the other colors.

Anemone Coronaria

Anemone coronaria are blooming in my garden.

They are native to the eastern Mediterranean region.

Sometimes they are called Windflowers.

Mine are growing in a pot.

All from a handful of tubers planted in the fall.

Vernal Equinox

On the first day of spring here are a few of the plants blooming in my garden:

Ranunculus,

Fava Bean flowers,

nasturtium,

scented geranium,

Lobularia maritima,

and Santa Barbara Daisy.

Camellia Japonica

Nuccio's Pink Lace camellia is blooming now in my garden.  Its description says: " semi-double to anemone to peony."  Which basically means

each flower is a little different from the other.

It blooms for a very long time.  I have the first bud open in January

and the last bud open in May.

Paperwhite Narcissus

The Paperwhite Narcissus

(Narcissus papyraceus)

are blooming now

in my garden.

They are fragrant and I bring bunches of them into the house.
