The Getty Center Garden, Part 4
This lower garden surrounding the azalea maze
is haphazard
in contrast to the carefully
delineated upper garden.

The Getty Center Garden, Part 3
The garden is always changing, as all gardens do, with the light, the time of day, the season.
The part of the garden with the most variety is the one that encircles the Maze of Azaleas.
A mixture of annuals and perennials are planted.
Something is always blooming, no matter what time of year it is.

The Getty Center Garden, Part 2
Views of the gardens are in every direction as one walks down from the entry level.
More drought tolerant plants are used since my last visit.
This is the Maze of Azaleas. The sparkly spots under the water are coins.

The Getty Center Garden, Part 1
Walking up to the Getty Center instead of taking the tram to approach more slowly.
The garden was begun in 1992 by Robert Irwin, an artist, five years before the Getty Center opened in 1997.

Calla Lilies
Calla Lilies (Zantedeschia aethiopica), native to South Africa,
grow in shady spots in my garden.
They send up inflorescences from
March to May.
